What do you think will happen to Satellite Radio? Do you think it will replace regular radio? I think the music channels on Serious Satellite Radio kick ass!!!! They have live DJ’s. I will say that XM has a more user friendly interface for blind people though. Another question for you all. Do you know if Serious has live DJ’s, or not? I can’t tell sometimes. What do you all think will happen to Howard Stern when he goes to serious? I will talk to you all later.
I like XM radio, it's really cool. My friend has it and I want it. I dunno if it'll take over though. It might.
Hello fello zone users, Sadalight radio will take over regular radio hear is why I can say that with such confedence. People are tierd of being told what is appropeate You may say what about people with kids pop music and such stations will help? no they won't no comursails more music Fm is dead and good riddence
Well, I think it may happen eventually but not for a while yet. Big corporations ahve a good share of FM and AM radio and radios that can pick these bands up are much cheaper than satellite radio and you don't ahve to pay to receive teh channels. I also think that most people are pretty complacent and don't mind narrow playlists and such as long as the music is familiar and easy to sing along with. I'd love to check out satellite radio, but I doubt I'd buy it since it's just another service to pay for monthly. There's so much streaming internet audio out there from independent folks that's much better than anything on standard radio that I'm pretty happy with. So before you buy XM, consider looking for interesting stations on Live365 or the Winamp library or Shoutcast.
Being the radio geek that I am,and being the type that collects airchecks from people such as Adam Greenburg in Teronto, and Matt Graig in the Long Island/Nyc area, I like the local product of radio. I like the live, local talent that is offerd by each market. In the US for example, companies such as Clearchannel and Infinity have taken over the radio market.... Lots of stations are voice-tracked, which means the shows are recorded in advance and then played back at the apropreit date. Most stations includeing Jack-FM in Toronto, and WBUF in Bufflow are automated at night. These stations used to have live, local jocks at nighttime, and yes there are listeners. I'm a radio nurde, and could talk forever about why regular radio is better. Another thing, it offers local weather and traphic, and news. Xm/Serious do not offer this prodect, and simply couldn't even at best. Why you ask? Well though Xm/Serious have no advertising as it is a pay service, and some (Not all) have live, local talent, it is only one DJ per station. NOt only that, but one station around the whole country.Just think if we had one top40 station with translators all around the country? Do you know how many jobs that would cut? Ugh. Xm/Serious could not even come close to having a good, full-time newsstaff such as KYW here in Philly have. There are benifets to both meadiums honestly. I think the bennefits of teretreal broadcasting far outway those provided by sattlelight radio. Yes, it does offer a few benefits, the non-switching of channels where ever you go, and the sound is muc less compressed then with anolog broadcasting. There are also many unique styles of music which have either died a slow death in regular radio, or have never existed in the first place. But there you have it, a long-winded post about both and what I think at least.
Watch what you say about Sirius. I'm with the competition, and we have more options than we would have had on Sirius. Long Live XMR!
Where can I find this live 365 and Winamp library, I've been to shoutcast, and it's fairly good!
